While best known for his photography today, Thaiphy’s creative journey began with video. For nearly two decades, he worked as a professional skateboard videographer, mastering the art of movement, timing, and storytelling on film. In 2012, he made the deliberate transition to photography full time, bringing with him a deep understanding of motion, composition, and narrative flow that continues to shape his approach behind the camera.
Thaiphy’s work has been showcased in respected institutions, including the Museum of American Art and the Minneapolis Institute of Art, underscoring his impact as both an artist and cultural documentarian. Beyond his professional achievements, he is a proud father to his three-year-old son, Stokely, who inspires him to see the world with curiosity, empathy, and hope for the future.
